Steven Weiss, MS, DC, E-RYT, C-IAYT is a holistic chiropractor and nutritionist, yoga therapist and yoga teacher with nearly forty years of professional and yoga practice experience. He has studied in many traditions of yoga with his main focus in the Iyengar and Anusara systems.
Dr. Weiss teaches anatomy, alignment principles, yoga therapeutics and nutrition for yoga teacher trainings in the United States and internationally. He is a Yoga Alliance registered teacher and a certified yoga therapist with the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
Steven had been the resident chiropractor and nutritionist with the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in Rhinebeck, NY for 17 years. He continues to serve on their visiting yoga faculty as well as at Integral Yoga’s Yogaville and with Sivananda Yoga in various locations in the United States and Europe. Dr. Weiss' chiropractic background and expertise in body posture and mechanics brings a unique, hands-on approach to his workshops.
Dr. Weiss has been a post-graduate instructor with New York Chiropractic College, offering continuing education through his program, the ChiroYoga™ Seminars.
As a life-long athletic and marathon runner, Steven developed “The Way of the Peaceful Runner”, a yoga-based program for long distance running.
Steven Weiss is the author of the yoga text, Yoga Alignment Principles and Practice, which is an expanded edition of his first book, The Injury-Free Yoga Practice. Both are comprehensive guides to alignment and postural mechanics, anatomy and the prevention of yoga injuries.
Also published by Dr. Weiss is the Integrative Alignment Yoga Therapy Manual, a text to support hands-on yoga therapy. It is available through this website as a digital pdf download.
